With a view to help spreading technology in hitherto uncharted areas of India’s economy, we zeroed in on Veterinary sector to implement data driven system. While scouting the domain terrain, the first challenge we came across was generation of data. And that provided us the starting point for our journey.
Digital India has become mantra in last few years and it is spreading faster in almost all the sphere of lives. The wind of digital intervention is blowing across India. It has penetrated urban population more than rural, although later is catching up fast.
Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and dairy sector are main pillars of rural economy in India. These sectors are seeing the effects of digitization of the economy and are also open to embrace it. Having brush with digital in rural India, I can say that there is bit of hesitation but once they see the benefits, folks in rural areas would welcome it with open arms.
Talking about Animal Husbandry, there is lot of scope for technology to help growth and expansion in the sector. Cattle and livestock are assets for the owners – mostly farmers in rural areas. These assets have economic values and life cycle associated with them. With some technological intervention, we can optimize investment and boost financial returns from the domestic animals.
